Naturalis Terminus

This set of symbols addresses the different extinction-levels of animals and plants in five categories — from «least concerned» to «extinct». The levels are visually represented by the increasing dot size of the printing process; ranging from a sharp depiction to a comic-like appearance. Accompanied by abstract representations of their natural habitats, each symbol stands for the animal‘s unique fight for its survival; almost as a hero in a comic story. More than 82.900 species have been assessed for the IUCN Red List. The intention is to keep track of the world’s biodiversity, and instigate preservation efforts. This project only shows a limited selection of these endangered species.
