Form – Museum

The mission of a museum is to collect, save and exhibit meaningful artifacts of the past and present – no matter if it is owned by a private collector or the public. As archives of knowledge, museums often represent their collections also through their appearance: the architecture. Museums that represent the life and work of an individual artist are often located within the studios used during life-time or they are build inspired by the artist’s life. Their spatial diversity is reflected in the forty-five symbols of this project. The gradients of each symbol represents the number of floors. The thickness of the horizontal line indicates the size of the building and divides the symbol into North and South: The thicker the line, the smaller is the museum in comparison to the other ones.
